If you're not familiar, the Camry has been the best selling car in America for 7 of the past 8 years. Following the success of it's Prius, Toyota released a hybrid version of the Camry in May of 2006, and has sold fairly well since then. Edmunds.com listed the Camry Hybrid as one of the top 10 selling hybrid cars in 2006. Sales have continued to increase and Toyota's goal for it's hybrid model is 15% of all Camry sales.

It's an interesting time for alternative fuel cars. Even as gas prices fell off a cliff (and subsequently stabilized), automakers are scrambling to find the next "it" with consumers. Electric hybrids are nice, but the initial cost often pushes the average consumer away. A cheaper alternative might be a natural gas hybrid. The Toyota CNG Hybrid might be closer than you think.
